New Delhi – India – Okinawa Autotech Pvt Ltd is a new entrant to India’s electric two wheeler market. It has plant in Bhiwadi (Rajasthan) and announced ambitious plans of launching three models every year and e-motorcycle soon.

Okinawa is planning to focus on high-speed electric two wheelers with a range of 200 km in a single charge. “The idea is to alter the belief that electric automobiles could not match the power, speed and efficiency of traditional petrol vehicles,” said Jeetender Sharma, Managing Director, Okinawa Autotech.

Okinawa launched ‘Ridge’, aerodynamically designed e-scooter, targeting ages of 18-60 years, in four color combinations of red, green-gold, red-white and white. Ridge is fitted with alloy wheels, tubeless tyres and telescopic suspension in order to handle city and rural terrain. It has loading capacity of 150 kg and under-the-seat storage.

Ridge priced at INR 43,702 (ex-showroom Delhi) could drive up to 55 km in a single charge with options of dual charging systems, while normal mode takes between 6-8 hours and fast mode charges in within 1-2 hours.

Meanwhile, it has plans to invest another about INR 270 crore (US$ 40 million) in product development and expanding business in India in the three years.

It has already invested about INR 35 crore (US$ 7 million) in building its production facility with an annual capacity of 90,000 units in Bhiwadi.
