Colombo – Sri Lanka – Sri Lankan bicycle manufacturer Asiabike Industrial Limited has been felicitated with top two government awards for its achievements in exports and light engineering sectors.
Asiabike engaged in bicycle manufacturing from last two decades and is regarded as one of the largest exporters of bicycles to the European Union, has won President Award for the ‘Highest Value Added Exporter 2015’ and National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) Silver Award for ‘Light Engineering Sector 2016’.
It has capacity to produce 360,000 bikes annually and its state-of-the-art facility at Panadura is installed with key processes like frame building, complete wheel building, paint systems for modern assembly operation.
Asiabike is one of the main Lankan bike producers enjoying preferential trade access to the European Union and accorded with GSP (Generalized System of Preferences) status enabling tariff reductions in EU market entry.
It has further expanded its export base by shipping bikes to neighbouring Indian market. Some of the leading Indian bike manufacturers and brands are now Asiabike clients, making it the largest exporter of bicycles from Sri Lanka.
The BOI (Board of Investment -Sri Lanka) approved company started in the year 1994, a 100% fully-owned local enterprise that manufactures all types of bikes including high quality mountain, racing, city bikes, children’s, trekking and all terrain bicycles to the European Union and other countries.
